The Euro-Mediterranean Women’s Foundation (FFEM), together with the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed), are launching the art contest “Drawing 4 Equality: Challenging gender roles on both sides of the Mediterranean”, in an effort to deconstruct the specific norms and behaviours that women and men are expected to play in society.

how many times are women and girls expected to act, behave and dress in a certain way? How many times have men refrained from doing something because it’s not worthy of a “man”? ;Break these norms and explore what’s behind them. Be creative and ingenious and share your views, thoughts and understanding of gender roles through drawings, illustrations, paintings and/or graphic design.

Submit your application by 8 March 2019 if you are a person who is passionate about art (an amateur), or a professional illustrator, graphic designer or artist, committed to feminism and gender equality; over the age of 18 and a citizen of a Euro-Mediterranean country.

The Euro-Mediterranean Women’s Foundation is an non-profit independent organisation launched in 2014. It is structured as a Network of networks bringing together all gender equality actors in the Euro-Mediterranean space with the aim of:

Advancing in the common fight for equal rights of women and men to participate in political, economic, civil and social life; eradicating all forms of violence and discrimination against women and girls; encouraging a change in attitude and behaviour in favour of gender equality.

The Foundation was created with a clear will to be closely linked to the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), which comprises the 28 EU Member States and 15 Mediterranean Partner Countries, through a multi-issue and multi-actor approach.
