In order to help Tunisia deal with the health crisis and support its strategy to fight COVID-19, the European Investment Bank has granted, through its Institute, an exceptional donation of 250,000 euros.

These funds, which will be managed by two non-governmental organisations (UNICEF/WHO and the International Red Crescent) in collaboration with the EIB Representation in Tunisia, will be dedicated to the acquisition of more than 200 oxygen concentrators and the recruitment of medical teams to help, for a period of six months, people living in rural areas who cannot travel to hospitals to receive the necessary care.

“Faced with the exceptional health situation, it is important to act quickly and meet the most urgent needs for equipment and for the care of people isolated in rural areas. This new action carried out in partnership with UNICEF/WHO and the International Red Crescent marks the strong mobilisation of the EIB in favour of Tunisia, with which the EIB has developed a strategic partnership and relationship of trust for many years. ” said Mr. Ricardo Mourinho Felix, Vice-President of the EIB.

Remember that this aid is part of the action taken by the European Union and its member states to support Tunisia in its fight against the coronavirus.
