Tunisia EU and Tunisia Strengthen Cooperation on Major Infrastructure Projects
On Friday, 22 August 2025, the Ambassador of the European Union to Tunisia, Mr. Giuseppe Perrone, met with the Minister of Equipment and Housing, Mr. Salah Zouari, to discuss ongoing and future cooperation in the field of infrastructure. The meeting focused on key structural projects, including the rehabilitation of old urban centers, urban regeneration and renewal initiatives, and other large-scale projects supported by the European Union.
Both sides welcomed the significant progress achieved on the construction of the Bizerte Bridge, a flagship project financed with approximately €123 million through the European Investment Bank and backed by the European Union Guarantee. The bridge, once completed, will stand as a landmark of EU-Tunisia partnership, improving mobility, connectivity, and economic opportunities for communities in the region.
The meeting was also an opportunity to explore new avenues of collaboration in ambitious infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening Tunisia’s development, improving the quality of urban life, and modernizing transport and housing systems across the country.
