On 1 October, the European Union Commissioner for the Mediterranean, Dubravka Šuica, began her first official visit to Tunisia. Accompanied by the EU Ambassador to Tunisia, H.E. Mr. Giuseppe Perrone, Commissioner Šuica met with young Tunisian men and women in the coastal city of La Goulette for an open and friendly discussion on the relationship between Tunisia and the European Union. The exchange also highlighted the new Pact for the Mediterranean, recently proposed by the European Commission, which aims to deepen cooperation and strengthen the EU’s partnership with its Mediterranean neighbours. This meeting with Tunisian youth set the tone for the Commissioner’s visit, underlining the EU’s commitment to dialogue, mutual understanding, and a renewed vision for the Euro-Mediterranean partnership.
