Libyan youth are stepping up to create impactful initiatives that foster dialogue, learning, and peace in their communities, with the support of the EU Jeel Connect network.
One shining example is Islam Al Atrash, who recently organised a Media and Journalism event. This event was dedicated to exploring the role of media in promoting peace and shaping positive narratives. Participants engaged in discussions about the importance of journalism in conflict resolution and were introduced to the various projects and opportunities offered by the European Union in the field of media. The initiative aimed to empower aspiring media professionals with knowledge and tools to support peacebuilding efforts in Libya.
Another active connector, Mohammed Khiblil, launched the thought-provoking initiative “Debate to Decisive Decisions.” The first debate tackled a critical question: “This house believes that youth can’t hold decision-making positions in Libya during the current time.” Through this platform, Mohammed encouraged participants to voice their opinions, deliberate the challenges facing youth in leadership roles, and ultimately seek ways to promote their inclusion in the decision-making process. This initiative is an important step in advocating for the role of young people in shaping Libya’s future.
These inspiring activities highlight the powerful contributions of EU Jeel Connectors in empowering Libyan youth to take on active roles in shaping their communities and future.
