On 30 September 2025, the European Union reaffirmed its commitment to innovation and healthcare development in Tunisia during a high-level event in Tunis dedicated to the biosimilars sector. Ambassador of the European Union to Tunisia, H.E. Mr. Giuseppe Perrone, took part in the discussions, underlining the EU’s strong support for strengthening local pharmaceutical capacity and fostering sustainable partnerships between public institutions and private actors. He highlighted how biosimilars represent not only a tool for ensuring broader access to essential medicines but also a driver of innovation and competitiveness for Tunisia’s health and industrial sectors.

The event gathered representatives from Tunisian ministries, Biotechpôle Sidi Thabet, and international partners, and focused on updating the national biosimilars registration guide in line with international standards. This initiative is part of the PACE-AMIT component of the CQE project, implemented by GIZ Tunisia in partnership with the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy, and co-financed by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
