To foster collaboration and mutual understanding among key stakeholders of the criminal justice chain in Palestine, EUPOL COPPS kicked off a three-day conference on 9 September in Jericho. The gathering brought together representatives from the Palestinian Civil Police (PCP), Prosecution, High Judicial Council, Bar Association and Civil Society Organisations. The programme includes a series of targeted, cross-sectional discussions aimed at addressing critical issues impacting security, justice and community welfare. During the opening day of the event, titled “Building Bridges in Jericho, Salfit, and Nablus”, participants went through several complex topics that they come across in their daily work, such as the backlog of cases within the police, the prosecutor’s office and the courts. In his opening speech, Joerg Krempel, the Deputy Head of Mission of EUPOL COPPS, stressed that the event helps to streamline communication and improves service delivery while remaining committed to respecting human rights and gender sensitivity. The gathering underscores EUPOL COPPS’s role as a trusted partner and adviser, able to bridge gaps between different sectors.
