“Discrimination encountered by Israeli women is particularly visible in the workplace. Temporary and unstable positions, underemployment, lower wages, indignities and exposure to harassment are some of the major problems faced by women in the Israeli labour market”, according to a publication posted online by the EU Delegation in Israel to coincide with International Women’s Day.
However, “at the same time, civil society’s efforts to impact policies and practices in the field are hindered by fragmentation and lack of coordination. There is a clear need to pool efforts and collaborate in securing an Israeli workforce that is based on equality, dignity and equal access and opportunities”, the report said. Projects for women, supported by the EU, have been implemented in Israel. (A list of projects is available on the website.)
