This two-day training (11-12 December 2024), which will take place at the MEDREG Secretariat offices in Milan, will bring together employees of energy regulators from across the Mediterranean region to focus on the role of regulators in the investment approval process and the importance of monitoring compliance post-approval. As the energy sector undergoes rapid transformation driven by the need for sustainable development, economic growth, and technological innovation, regulators are increasingly tasked with ensuring that investments align with both national priorities and international standards.
The event will cover a range of critical topics, including regulatory frameworks, risk assessment, stakeholder engagement, and the use of advanced technological tools for effective monitoring. Understanding these aspects is essential for regulators to navigate the complexities of the investment landscape, where decisions have far-reaching implications for energy security, environmental sustainability, and economic stability.
By exploring these topics, participants will gain valuable insights into the regulatory processes that guide investment approvals, learning how to assess risks, engage with stakeholders, and utilize data-driven tools to ensure compliance. This training aims to strengthen the capacity of regulatory bodies to make informed decisions that promote transparency, accountability, and public trust. Taking place over two days, the training will feature speakers from the EU countries and MEDREG member organisations and will welcome participants from member regulators’ staff along with academic students and professionals interested in the topic.
