On 26 June 2019, the Head of the EU Co-ordinating Office for Palestinian Police Support (EUPOL COPPS), Mr. Kauko Aaltomaa, made a symbolic hand-over of five publications, sponsored by the Mission, to the Palestinian Chief Justice Chancellor, H.E Judge Emad Saleem Sa’ad.
The hand-over of three pocket size handbooks on procedural law and two volumes of international treaties, to which the Palestinian Authority have committed, completes a yearlong project aiming to support the High Judicial Council in their effort to strengthen the functioning of the Palestinian courts.
The literature complements the Mission’s initiative to support the Technical Office of the High Judicial Council in assisting Palestinian judges in the provision of prompt and high quality justice. The Chief Justice Chancellor and the Head of Mission agreed that these publications also constitutes a symbol of cooperation between EUPOL COPPS and the High Judicial Council – a cooperation which remains crucial in the implementation of the Mission’s mandate.
EUPOL COPPS is the European Union Co-ordinating Office for Palestinian Police Support. The aim of the Mission is to contribute to the establishment of sustainable and effective policing arrangements and to advise Palestinian counterparts on criminal justice and rule of law related aspects under Palestinian ownership.
