The EU “condemns the four death sentences issued by a military court in Gaza on 13 January”, according to a statement from the EU delegations in Jerusalem and Ramallah on Friday. “These are the first death sentences issued this year. Last year, Palestinian courts issued 12 death sentences, including three in the West Bank, despite a moratorium on executions in place since 2005”, the EU delegations said.

“The authorities in Gaza must refrain from carrying out any executions”, they said.
