On the sidelines of the third edition of Cairo Water Week, taking place October 18–22, the 2nd European Union (EU) – Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) – Egypt Water Governance and Business Forum is held on Monday 19 October. Participants will discuss EU-Egypt cooperation in the water sector and the EU’s continued support to help Egypt overcome its water scarcity challenge.
The Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Mohamed Abdel Atty, the Ambassador of the EU to Egypt, Christian Berger, and the Secretary-General of the UfM, Ambassador Nasser Kamel will inaugurate the forum. It brings together Egyptian government officials, private sector representatives from Egypt and the EU, regional organizations, and international development partners.
Ambassador of the European Union to Egypt Christian Berger underlines the importance of the water sector in Egypt: “The EU and its Member States are partners of Egypt in its ambitious agenda for water management; work closely with the authorities and provide support, technical expertise, and capacity building. The joint aim is to make full use of the opportunities that water offers.”
