South Programme IV: training for future Moroccan law practitioners on trafficking in human beings

The training of about fifty future Moroccan law practioners in the field of combating human trafficking took place during a workshop organised on 28-29 March within the framework of the South Programme IV, in cooperation with the National Commission for Coordinating Measures for Combating and Preventing Trafficking in Human Beings of Morocco and the juridic clinic of Caddi Ayyad University of Marrakesh, which provides free legal aid to potential victims of trafficking.

National and international experts presented key concepts related to human trafficking, the national and international juridic frameworks in the area including the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings, as well as the compendium of legal summaries and decisions of the European court of human rights. Practical exercises simulating human trafficking case trial, as well as exercises aimed at the detection of potential victims of trafficking were also organised for the participants.

The event ended with the award of a certificate to the participants by members of the National Commission for Coordinating Measures for Combating and Preventing Trafficking in Human Beings of Morocco and representatives of the Council of Europe.
