As part of the Green Impact Investing Network (GIIN) activities, the EU-funded SwitchMed project started its missions to assess the interest of financing institutions based in Europe in investments in eco-innovative businesses or green initiatives in the Southern Mediterranean countries.

Until 2018, towards the vision of establishing a SwitchMed Green Impact Investing Network, the project will work to identify and attract international investment networks as well as the international and national financing institutions in four pilot countries: Egypt, Lebanon, Tunisia and Morocco.

The SwitchMed sustainable consumption and production programme aims to promote a switch of the Mediterranean economies towards sustainable consumption and production patterns and green economy, including low emission development, through demonstration and dissemination of methods that improve resource and energy efficiency. It also seeks to minimise the environmental impacts associated to the life cycle of products and services, and, as opportune, to promote renewable energy.
