On June 10th 2018, Vice-President Federica Mogherini met with Mr Ayman Al Safadi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan, during a press conference in Amman.
During the event, Frederica Mogherini talked about a new financial agreement of €20 million regarding social protection projects that address, in particular, the needs of Jordanians who are extremely vulnerable.
Frederica Mogherini insisted on the strong partnership between the European Union and Jordan and the will of the EU to support Jordan with all possible means at their disposal, including economic and financial means.
The European Union has previously been working together with Jordan on projects in different fields in the last two years and a half for an amount of €1 billion in total. Those projects covered, in particular, the fields of water, energy, environment, humanitarian aid, mainly addressing the needs of Syrian refugees in Jordan, but also, the Jordanians that are hosting the Syrian refugees in difficult circumstances.
