Tunisia WES-BCA first online Kick-off Meeting of the environment activity in Lebanon
The WES-BCA project has organised its first online kick-off meeting of the environment activity in Lebanon, on July 24, 2025. WES-BCA is to support the initial implementation of an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) scheme for selected single-use plastics (SUP) in Lebanon, with a focus on packaging plastic waste. The WES-BCA team of experts will provide technical and legal guidance for the development of a national EPR legal framework and assist in preparing relevant policy recommendations and related legal documents. It will also enhance national capacities and stakeholder engagement through targeted capacity-building workshops and consultations, promoting source separation, recycling technologies, and alignment with ongoing programs supporting EPR implementation for selected SUP. The activity is prepared with the collaboration of the Ministry of Environment of Lebanon. During the meeting, the team of WES-BCA experts presented the activity’s action plan and discussed the issues raised with key stakeholders.
