The Young Med Voices ‘Peace on Climate’ group, winners of the YMV Communications Lab 2020, is about to launch a campaign to raise awareness on climate change and radicalisation. The aim is to influence the United Nations and its member-states to acknowledge its danger, as well as to tackle this topic at the upcoming COP26 Climate Summit.

Several studies point out to the relation between climate change and radicalisation, conflict and other violent scenarios. The worsening of living conditions due to more frequent droughts and devastating floods can already be seen in some regions of the world, especially in the Sahel, where the United States Agency for International Development expects 1.5 times higher temperatures than anywhere else.

Young Mediterranean voices is the flagship debate and Dialogue programme connecting civil society, education and policy-makers across the southern Mediterranean and Europe. The programme provides a pioneering platform to open doors for young influencers to shape policy and media narratives. It is grounded on the positive experience of Young Arab Voices launched in 2011 by the Anna Lindh Foundation and British Council and it benefits from the support of the European Union.
