A video series highlighting the urgency of tackling water issues
As part of the #EyesOnBlue campaign and in parallel of the main competition, the EU Neighbours South project developed a video series to highlight the urgency of tackling water issues. The series was produced in collaboration with influential figures from the Southern Neighbourhood who are active in the water field.
In total, 8 videos were developed and published on EU Neighbours South social media:
Video 1: Beisan Alsharif and Seif Madanat, two Jodanian environmental activists and founders of the ProjectSea initiative, raising awareness on the alarming water issue in their country.
Video 2: Bisan Ouda, a Palestinian social activist, explaining how diversifying the activities of the blue economy in the Gaza Strip and aquaculture development represents a real economic opportunity for the population in Gaza.
Video 3: Adeeb Baruni, a Libyan civil society activist, drawing attention to the many damages caused by dynamite fishing practices.
Video 4: Joyce Azzam, a Lebanese mountaineer and environmental activist, raising awareness on the development of the blue economy sector as a sustainable solution to cater fish demand, job creation and food security.
Video 5: Adel Azouni, a Tunisian geologist and activist, highlighting a sustainable and circular economic project on Kerkennah Island for plastic collection funded by the EU.
Video 6: Lamine Azeddine, a Moroccan explorer and adventurer, highlighting an entrepreneur who is trying to reduce drought and improve access to clean water by turning wastewater into irrigation water.
Video 7: Ahmed Yassin, an environmental activist from Alexandria, explaining how integrated water management offers solutions to improve water challenges in Egypt.
Video 8: Ahmed Ramy Mebrouk, an Algerian environmental activist, raising awareness about coastal erosion in his country.
