11th plenary session of the Euro-Mediterranean Regional and Local Assembly (ARLEM) to be held on 22-23 January 2020

The 11th plenary session of the Euro-Mediterranean Regional and Local Assembly (ARLEM) will take place in Barcelona, Spain on 22 and 23 January 2020 at the invitation of Ms Ada Colau Ballano, Mayor of Barcelona and hosted by the Union for the Mediterranean.

The ARLEM members will adopt the Action Plan for the next term of office, the Recommendations as well as the calendar for the ARLEM activities during the coming year. The Assembly will also decide the topics and the rapporteurs for 2020.

Furthermore, the plenary session will adopt the two draft ARLEM reports: on blue economy for local and regional authorities in the Mediterranean, by rapporteur Vincenzo Bianco (IT/PES), Councillor of Catania, Italy and on regional integration in the Mediterranean, by rapporteur Jehad Khair, Mayor of Beit Sahour, Palestine.

The winner of the ARLEM Award 2020 will be awarded at a special ceremony during the plenary.

The Euro-Mediterranean Regional and Local Assembly (ARLEM) is an assembly of local and regional representatives  from the European Union and its Mediterranean partners. It was set up in 2010 by the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) together with territorial associations active in this context allowing elected representatives from the three shores of the Mediterranean Sea to represent their local and regional authorities politically, including towards the EU and the Union for the Mediterranean (Uf​M); maintain political dialogue and promote interregional cooperation.
