The EU-funded OPEN Media Hub is organising an advanced broadcast training for journalists and producers from the Lebanese media. The training will take place over three days, from 25-27 September, led by renowned broadcast journalist trainer Sofia Amara, an award-winning documentary author, who works for France 2 Envoyé Spécial, Canal+, Arte and France 24.

The advanced broadcast training session will cover news production courses designed to improve independent and objective reporting, and to expand relevant skills, notably through reporting, storytelling, and narration. The workshop will aim to produce stories by putting into practice the skills set in real time for real output.

The training will have a special focus on the following themes:

  • Investigative Reporting: the storytelling and narration process that it involves.
  • How and what to film, how to illustrate an investigative story.

Journalists are invited to apply for the training with specific proposals for stories they would like to produce for the workshop.

The OPEN Media Hub project, funded by the EU under the OPEN Neighbourhood Programme, aims at creating a virtual media hub spanning the EU’s two neighbourhood regions – south and east – in order to contribute to the development of independent media and to a more accurate presentation of EU policies, through the creation of a network of journalists. It provides skills to journalists and media managers through the fostering of professional networks, the provision of hands-on workshops, of journalist exchanges and support to audio-visual and online production.
