Last week representatives from “Agenzia Italiana per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo – AICS Tunisi”, UNDP Libya and UNICEF Libya presented key progress and achievements at the 9th Technical Committee meeting of the EU-funded programme “Baladiyati” (Recovery, Stability and Socio-Economic Development in Libya).
Attended by the Libyan authorities, namely the Ministry of Local Governance, the Ministry of Planning, the Presidential Council, and the European Union in Libya who is generously funding the programme through its EU-Africa Trust Fund, the meeting was a successful opportunity to sit together and discuss accomplishments, challenges and possible solutions towards a more and more effective support to healthcare, education and water and sanitation services for everyone in Libya.
“Recovery, Stability and socio-economic development in Libya” supports the capacities of local public authorities and administrations in providing basic services – health, education, water and sanitation as well as social services – while improving timely and quality access to these services, in particular for the most vulnerable people in 24 Libyan municipalities.
