The Euro-Mediterranean network of think tanks on politics and security EuroMeSCo is holding its Annual Conference on the theme “Confronting Violent Extremism in the Euro-Mediterranean”. The conference, to take part on 1-2 June in Barcelona, is organised in the framework of the project “Euro-Mediterranean Political Research and Dialogue for Inclusive Policymaking Processes and Dissemination through Network Participation”, co-funded by the European Union and the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed).

The conference will gather over 150 researchers and practitioners to discuss violent extremism in the Euro-Mediterranean region, its manifestations, drivers, impact and what responses could be developed to confront it.

The event will also explore the correlation between changes in geopolitical dynamics and the rise of violent extremism, inter-relation between the violent extremism and populist, nationalist and authoritarian trends in the region, and different initiatives deployed to prevent and counter violent extremism.

Preliminary results of the Euromed survey of experts on violent extremism will be presented at the conference.

The plenary sessions of the conference will be streamed online here
