The first Media Connect took place on 25 April in Meknès, Morocco, and will focus on the topic of water scarcity. It is the first of many Media Connects and marks the beginning of a dynamic initiative led by EU Neighbours South, the European Union’s communication programme for the Southern Neighbourhood.

On the sidelines of the 16th edition of the International Agricultural Exhibition in Morocco (SIAM) in Meknes, the stage is set for the first Media Connect event. Against the backdrop of the SIAM theme “Climate and Agriculture”, Media Connect is focussing on a pressing problem: water scarcity. Under the theme “Water: Will we all be thirsty by 2030?” Media Connect will go deep into the heart of this critical issue.

Students and young journalists from Rabat, Kenitra, Fez and Taza will participate in Media Connect and engage with experts and EU representatives, including the EU Ambassador to Morocco. This mix of youth, experience and diplomatic representation will ensure an enriching exchange of perspectives and ideas.

This event is organised in cooperation with the Delegation of the European Union to the Kingdom of Morocco and in partnership with the online media www.thevoice.ma. It marks the start of the Media Connect activities launched by EU Neighbours South. This is a series of information events where journalism students and young journalists can meet high-level experts and EU representatives.

Media Connect will take place in different countries to ensure continuous cooperation with journalism students and young journalists. This will keep the dialogue alive and create a community of journalists and experts dealing with the most important issues.
