The EU is happy to see the completion of restoration works of the Mosque of Amir Altinbugha al Maridani in Cairo’s Darb el district, as well as the establishment of a touristic path from Al-Azhar Park to Bab el Suweyla.
The Maridani mosque now shines again in its beautiful Mamluk design and is a place for prayers and cultural engagement.
This is part of the EU-funded “Boosting Heritage Tourism in Islamic Cairo” project reaffirming the EU’s commitment to conserving and restoring cultural heritage, contributing to sustainable and inclusive socioeconomic development and growth around restored heritage sites.
