Maciej Popowski, the European Commission’s Deputy Director General of Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations, visited the EU-funded UNICEF Makani Centre. He met Jordanian, Roma and Syrian children attending learning support and life skills training classes. On the occasion, Maciej Popowski talked to their mothers to understand the needs and aspirations of their children.
Co-funded by the EU Syria Trust Fund, the Makani centres provide vulnerable children and youth with learning opportunities, life skills training and psychosocial support services under one roof. In 2018, UNICEF has reached so far 150 000 vulnerable people.
