From 5 to 9 September 2022, the EuroMed Feminist Initiave (EFI – IFE), together with a group of Syrian activists and experts conducted a study trip in Tunisia to meet multiple feminist associations and human rights organisations.
The delegation met Nachaz ; the Tunisian Association of Democrat Women (Association tunisienne des femmes démocrates – ATFD) ; the Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights (FTDES) ; the Tunisian Women’s Association for Developmental Research (Association des femmes tunisiennes pour la recherche et le développement – AFTURD) ; the Tunisian League of Human Rights (LTDH) and, the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH).
On the agenda of the exchanges : the challenges faced by the civil society and notably women’s associations ; the violence against women and girls and the need for protection mechanisms for women and children (shelters) ; the importance of protecting economic and social rights of the most vulnerable groups ; gender equality and the necessary support of men ; contexts in Syria and in Tunisia and the necessity to reinforce advocacy activities through alliances building and networking while highlighting the current difficulties of implementing recommendations into actions.
