The EU-funded CyberSouth project held two meetings in Morocco early this month.
The national meeting to support the preparation of the annual situation report in Morocco was organised on-line on 3 February. It was an opportunity for the Moroccan authorities to express their views on the cybercrime situation in the country, and to discuss about the collection and use of criminal justice statistics on cybercrime and e-evidence, with a focus on the methodology for collecting statistical data, categories of data and benefits.
The second meeting concerned the development of domestic Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Toolkit for First Responders in Cybercrime Investigations and E-evidence. The purpose of this meeting was to follow-up with the members of the working group established after the first workshop on SOPs which took place on 22 September 2020. The discussions concerned the draft Guide on the Identification, Collection, Preservation and Analysis of Digital Evidence, its content and structure.
CyberSouth is a joint project of the European Union and the Council of Europe. It contributes to the prevention and control of cybercrime and other offences involving electronic evidence in the region of the Southern Neighbourhood, in line with international human rights and rule of law standards and good practices.
