On 12 January, BUSINESSMED presented the first version of the Business Country Desk (BCD) platform, an initiative that has been thought out since 2007 and which is now deployed in its digital form as an essential instrument of the EU-funded EBSOMED project.

The online meeting began with the welcoming remarks of Barbara Beltrame, BUSINESSMED president and Liisa Tantarri, in charge of international aid/cooperation at EU Neighbourhood and Enlargement.

The debate that followed focused on BCD’s mission and potential, tracing the history and the regional economic context related to the birth of the idea of this platform, a special desk to promote and stimulate Euro-Mediterranean economic activity and to create strategic business networks and partnerships.

The webinar closed with an overview of the key features and opportunities of BCD platform while highlighting value-added services for employers’ organizations.

Co-financed by the European Commission, EBSOMED is a 4-year project which was officially launched in June 2018 in Tunis. The project aims at boosting the Mediterranean business ecosystem and promoting inclusive economic growth and job creation, by enhancing the private sector environment and namely the Business Support Organisations in the Southern Neighbourhood countries.
