The College of Europe Development Office has organised a four-day online training workshop (that started on 21 September) on the Wider Human Rights Agenda including environmental, economic, social and cultural rights and its applicability to Policy Planning.
On the first day, the group analysed the historical trajectory of Human Rights, mechanisms to follow up and monitor them, the EU’s strategy on Human Rights as well as the link between Human Rights and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The second day focused on the UN Human Rights Based Approach and compared it with the EU’s own Rights Based Approach. The third day focused on case studies to understand how to integrate Human Rights considerations at programming and strategic levels. The last day finally focused on how to apply the concepts and tools in participants’ daily work.
In continuity with El-Hiwar I (2013-2017), the overall objective of the phase II is to strengthen dialogue, co-operation and collaboration with key regional actors in Euro-Arab relations.
