On 4 July, a night of traditional Egyptian and Sudanese music, shadow puppets and poetry brought back to life the treasures of the Ethnographic Museum in Cairo.
The Ethnographic Museum, established in 1895 and belonging to the Egyptian Geographical Society, is a treasure trove of Egypt’s diverse cultural heritage, showcasing artefacts, artworks and traditions that span centuries.
The promotional event, aiming to support keeping the museum open to researches and the public, was hosted by the Egyptian Geographical Society with the support of the European Union and in cooperation with IFAO – Institut français d’archéologie orientale du Caire and Taradod Music.
