TunisiaThe EU supports the sector of fisheries in Algeria
The EU took part in the Djazaqua Forum, the International Forum of Aquaculture and fishing resources, which was held this week in Algiers, Algeria. Djazacqua addressed the most recent technical breakthroughs in the fisheries sector. It was also a unique opportunity to confront the findings of basic research and technical progress with the difficulties on the field.
The forum was the occasion to present the policy of the EU in terms of fishing and aquaculture, a sector where the EU and Algeria has been closely collaborating in the framework of the programme DIVECO 2 (Economic Diversification Support Programme – fisheries sector). This programme aims at enhancing Algeria’s economic diversification through sustainable development and improving the economic performances of this sector.
