The visit to Tunisia of the European Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson, on 20 and 21 May was the perfect occasion to celebrate the strong partnership between Tunisia and the European Union.
It aimed to revitalize a comprehensive migration partnership between the EU and Tunisia, based on solidarity and shared responsibility and the reduction of irregular departures, the preservation of lives and the fight against the mafia networks of smugglers who take advantage of despair and threaten our common security.
It is the time to renew Tunisia and the EU’s migration partnership adapted to their mutual needs and based on mutual trust and common commitments in favor of new initiatives on legal paths. The Talent Partnership, based on pilot projects around regular migration, and in coordination with interested Member States, will provide short-term education, training and circular employment opportunities for young people.
