Fifteen EU-supported films nominated at the Berlin International Film Festival

Fifteen EU-supported films have been nominated in various categories at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), which opened today and will continue until 24 February.

Three films, “Another End”“Architecton” and “Des Teufels Bad”, have been shortlisted in the ‘Competition’ category and are competing for the prestigious Golden and Silver Bears. Twelve other films have been nominated for other Berlinale awards, as well as for independent fringe festival awards. All these films were funded by the Creative Europe MEDIA strand, with backing of almost € 700,000. The winners will be announced on 24 February at the closing ceremony.

The European Film Market will be held alongside the Berlinale, and the Commission will be there to meet and talk to key players and beneficiaries. On Saturday 17 February, the Commission will be holding a panel discussion entitled “Préparer le terrain pour un écosystème florissant pour le contenu européen”, (Preparing the ground for a flourishing ecosystem for European content), which will be bring together European broadcasters and producers to explore the market opportunities for all European stakeholders.
