The European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell met with Egypt’s president, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, in Cairo.
Discussions focused on regional issues, such as Sudan, water security, latest developments between Israel and Palestine, the situation in Libya and the detrimental impact of Russia’s war against Ukraine on global food and energy security.
Borrell’s visit to Egypt offered an opportunity to review and strengthen the EU-Egypt partnership, as well as the cooperation between the EU and the League of Arab States, and discuss common global and regional challenges, such as migration, energy, counterterrorism, and food security.
