The Chellah Jazz Festival will return from 29 September to 2 October 2022 inside the fortified walls of the Chellah in Rabat. Now in its 25th edition, the Chellah Jazz Festival continues to forge musical bonds between Europe and Morocco. The festival has been organised by the European Union since 1996 under the slogan ‘European jazz – Moroccan music’.

This year, the Chellah Jazz Festival will include two concerts each evening for four days, featuring a fusion of styles and artists. More than 50 musicians from Europe and Morocco will take to the stage to perform in special concerts with a unique mix of styles and genres.

According to the European Union Ambassador to Morocco, Patricia Llombart Cussac, “jazz is a musical style that has enabled us in the European Union to offer a unique musical platform by combining and blending European jazz with musical styles from across all regions of the kingdom.” “In keeping with the principles of the Morocco-European Union partnership, the Chellah Jazz Festival is based on dialogue, exchange and mutual respect.”

Held every year since 1996 under the banner “European Jazz – Moroccan Music”, the Chellah Jazz Festival is a European Union initiative in Morocco organised in partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication and Wilaya Rabat-Salé-Kénitra. The 25th edition of the Chellah Jazz Festival will also be part of the city’s celebrations after Rabat was named African Capital of Culture.
