MediLabSecure Medical Entomology and Spatial Modeling expertise leaders, in collaboration with Institut Pasteur de Tunis organized an urban vector mapping training course from May 5th to 10th. Tailored for 15 participants from Tunisia, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Lebanon, and Libya, the training aimed at mapping mosquito breeding sites and sampling larvae for vector control.
More specifically, the course focused on the use of the VECMAP tool to locate mosquito collections in the area of Tunis. Following this 5-day on-site training, participants continued with an online course to learn how to use QGIS, a free and open-source geographic information system, and map the data collected in the field.
