More than 70 young people speaking more than 7 languages, from more than 15 countries of both sides of the Mediterranean, gathered in Casablanca, Morocco, in the framework of the EU-funded Net-Med Youth project, to share experiences on social work, to enrich, strengthen and develop their abilities, and to find solutions to the obstacles each of them faces in their country.
Four main themes were discussed during the meeting:
After the opening ceremony on the first day, four afternoon workshops were offered to participants to choose from. Participants shared their experiences on these topics. Field visits were also included in the programme, giving the participants an overview of important local society organisations and on how they manage to help the young Moroccan society fight delinquency through education, arts and awareness. On the third day, a public debate took place, where the results of the work during the workshops were discussed, and where also a few participants gave an overview on the situation of youth in their country.
NET-MED Youth aims to improve the access and effective participation of young people in mainstreaming their priorities into legislation and national planning in the Southern Mediterranean Partner countries. Specifically, it aims to build the capacities of youth organisations in ENP South countries and to enhance networking among them in order to reduce the fragmentation of efforts and harness the collective potential of young people in achieving democratic transition towards active citizenship, political participation and social inclusion.
