The EU-funded SwitchMed programme has published its fifth newsletter, dated April, 2016 with updates on actions implemented by the project.
The newsletter highlights the latest news including the launch of a National Policy Action Plan in Lebanon (1200 ‘green’ entrepreneurs trained so far), community initiatives selected and trained in three countries; eight demonstration companies in Lebanon about to start Technical Assistance training, and the appointment of a jury of large enterprises to select start-ups.
The newsletter edition also reports on European investors interested in the MENA region, and features a report on the fact that more than 1000 experts joined the Action Network SwitchMed Connect in 2016.
The SWITCH-MED sustainable consumption and production programme aims to promote a switch of the Mediterranean economies towards sustainable consumption and production patterns and green economy, including low emission development, through demonstration and dissemination of methods that improve resource and energy efficiency. It also seeks to minimise the environmental impacts associated to the life cycle of products and services, and, as opportune, to promote renewable energy. (EU Neighbourhood Info)
