Mr Gert Jan Koopman, Director General for Neighbourhood & Enlargement Negotiations with the European Commission and Mr Simon Mordue, Deputy Secretary General for Economic and Global Affairs of the European External Action Service, visited Rabat on 2 and 3 September.
The purpose of this visit was to strengthen the shared prosperity partnership between the European Union and Morocco. Constructive talks were held with several institutional and private sector partners, opening the way for more mutually beneficial cooperation.
️On the political front, a meeting took place between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad, Maroc Diplomatie 🇲🇦, to further consolidate the strategic partnership. These exchanges, which form part of the continuous EU/Morocco dialogue, attest to the shared commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.
Exchanges with Nadia FETTAH, Minister of Economy and Finance, underlined the partnership’s considerable potential for turbocharging economic growth, employment and investments.
Talks with Nizar Baraka and the Ministry of Equipment and Water concerned water management. These fruitful talks focused on Morocco’s national water policy, which aims to strengthen the country’s resilience to the challenges posed by climate change. The talks took place in the context of the guidelines set out in the Royal Speech on the occasion of Throne Day. The development of infrastructure between now and 2030 was also addressed.
The European Union is a staunch ally of Morocco, particularly as regards support for its infrastructure projects aimed at sustainable resource management, notably through the Green European Parliament, which is a unique cooperation model of its kind.
