The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) announced, on Friday 19 February 2016, its intention to “provide a senior loan, of up to EUR 85 million, to the Tunisian state-owned ‘Société Tunisienne de l’Electricité et du Gaz’ (STEG), to finance the reinforcement of the electricity transmission network in North-Eastern Tunisia”.
The aim is to “enhance the performance and reliability of the electricity transmission and distribution network and prepare the Tunisian grid for future additional renewable capacity”.
