An EU-funded project has supported 1,000 Tunisian women in their search for work, while sensitising hundreds of companies on issues of gender equality, equal opportunity and discrimination in the workplace. The closing event of the project for the promotion of professional equality between men and women was held on 14 February, attended by the Minister of Women, Family and Childhood, the Minister of Health, and the Minister of the Environment and Local Authorities, the Head of the EU Delegation in Tunisia, as well as stakeholders from the public and private sector and from NGOs.

The event was also an opportunity to raise awareness, to share testimonies and to discuss professional equality in the current economic climate, in particular women’s access to top management, diversity in companies, and corporate social responsibility.
The project was part of a broader framework of assistance to gender equality in Tunisia, including a €7 million programme implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Women, Family and Childhood and civil society.
