In December 2022, the YEP MED team in Damietta (Egypt) organised two courses aimed at the local youth and women to bring the realities of the port sector close to them.
The month started with a second edition of the operational training in port logistics. Carried out in cooperation with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport and the Damietta Port Authority, this training gave 15 attendees an introduction to international trade operations and provided opportunities for teamwork practice on export operations.
Following the successful completion of this course, the same entities organised a course in Port Logistics Community Training. This course was offered to both vocational students (15 students) and young people not in employment, education or training (30). During the course, the participants received an introduction to international trade, the port logistics community, its main actors, ports’ legal framework and governance. Practical workshops on freight forwarding and customs operations were also given to ensure that an all-encompassing view of port-logistics life was given.
