The EU Delegation to Jordan offers the post of Administrative Assistant (Local Agent Group 2) in the Delegation’s Common Administrative Section. The team consists of 24 people and there are occasional atypical working hours.

Under this post, the recruited person will be attributed functions depending on the needs of the Delegation, and on the changes of these needs. The successful candidate will serve under the supervision and responsibility of the Head of Common Administrative Section, providing support, expertise and assistance in the administrative process of the protocol files for all expatriates and dependents, plus operational support for the organization support for VIP visits, in close collaboration with the local authorities, including the Royal Court.

Following main tasks and duties are currently required:

  • Liaison between the delegation and the national authorities (mainly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates) for all matters related to protocol matters;
  • Draft of all correspondence relating to registration and other formalities for expatriate staff and dependents; follow-up with all relevant administrations (customs, Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Labour, etc.);
  • Organisation of VIP visits in close cooperation with national authorities, including, if necessary, the Royal Court;
  • Maintenance of section administrative records (protocol procedures); classification, filing and recording of correspondence and documents;
  • Advice on the procedures to be implemented to solve in a correct and fast way the particular files;
  • External stakeholder relations regarding events and public affairs.

The base salary will depend on relevant and verified employment experience, typically starting from 1,771JOD.  There is a competitive benefits package, subject to certain conditions, including personal leave days and public holidays, health insurance and a retirement savings plan.

The expected start date will be 01 January 2024.

Minimum requirements / eligibility criteria

  • Minimum of secondary education degree (preferably bachelor);
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience, including 2 years in tasks directly related to the job in an Embassy or international organization;
  • Working knowledge (C2) of English and Arab 
  • Right to residence and work in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
  • Excellent knowledge of computer applications Microsoft Office: Excel, Word.
  • Ability to adapt to technological and software innovations.

Assets / selection criteria (basis for awarding points to select the best applicant)  

  • Working knowledge in French (written, oral);
  • Knowledge of the EEAS and/or EC applications
