The EU Delegation to Jordan offers the post of Administrative Assistant (Local Agent Group 2) in the Delegation’s Common Administrative Section. The team consists of 24 people and there are occasional atypical working hours.

Under this post, the recruited person will be attributed functions depending on the needs of the Delegation, and on the changes of these needs. The successful candidate will serve under the supervision and responsibility of the Head of Common Administrative Section, providing support, expertise and assistance mainly in the field of budget and procurement.

Following main tasks and duties are currently required:

  • Taking an active part in drawing up, monitoring and revising the office’s annual budget.
  • Initiating all tendering procedures relating to the various sections of the Delegation, in strict compliance with the rules.
  • Actively monitoring the various service contracts in progress (budgeting, planning and execution).
  • Managing the personnel hired under service contracts.
  • Maintaining regular contact with the bank, particularly in the event of a change of signature.
  • Ensuring that the various internal notes on financial circuits are regularly updated.
  • Coordinating timely answers to requests from the main office (including ex-post control and audit activities).
  • Acting as verifying agent and Imprest Account holder in the absence of the HoS.

The base salary will depend on relevant and verified employment experience, typically starting from 1,771JOD.  There is a competitive benefits package, subject to certain conditions, including personal leave days and public holidays, health insurances and a retirement savings plan.

The expected start date will be 01st January 2024.

Minimum requirements / eligibility criteria (necessary for the application to be considered)

  • Secondary education degree (preferably a bachelor) in business administration or a relevant field with accounting, budget, human resources, infrastructure and/or other administration studies;
  • Good command of Arabic and English (written and spoken);
  • Minimum professional experience of 5 years, including 3 years in tasks directly related to the post;
  • Excellent knowledge of computer applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, scheduling and communication;
  • Energetic person and able to handle several strands of work in parallel in a high-pressure environment. An ability to work well with others is vital
  • Medically fit to perform the required duties;
  • Enjoys civil rights and permits for employment under local law.

Assets / selection criteria (basis for awarding points to select the best applicant)  

  • Working knowledge in French (written, oral);
  • Knowledge of the EEAS and/or EC applications
