Ursula Von der Leyen proposed, as the new President of the European Commission from 1 December 2019, a new pact for migration and asylum as one of the strategic objectives of the new Commission. Among its priorities: the reform of migration and asylum management and greater involvement of member states with countries of origin of migrants.
