Cooperation projects between programme countries (EU Member States1 and third countries associated with the programmes) and neighbouring partner countries (third countries not associated with the Programme that are neighbouring the EU) are a special case in the European Youth Programmes and one which should be protected and supported.

The findings in this report show how they expand the exceptional benefits of the programmes into regions bordering the EU, helping to build a stronger, more cohesive, and more inclusive youth sector that benefits everyone involved. The findings show that cooperation projects provide invaluable international non-formal learning experiences for young people, including young people with fewer opportunities, resulting in them emphasising how meaningful and positive their experiences were, even when asked for critical feedback.
