On 7 May 2022 and during a LIVE session in the presence of 12 EU Goodwill Ambassadors from the Southern Neighbourhood, the EU Neighbours South Programme launched the 2nd edition of the #InTheirEyes, a competition aimed at digital influencers in eight countries of the Southern Neighbourhood: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia.
In each country, six content creators will be selected and will participate in an initial training cycle during which they will learn about European Union activities in the region and different EU-funded projects in different sectors. They will be supported by Mentors who will pass on their expertise and will help them produce their videos.
The 4 Pillars
At the end of this 1st selection phase, two Competitors per country will be selected. In each country, a national team will be formed, made up of 4 pillars: the 2 Competitors, the 2 Mentors, a representative of the Delegation of the European Union of their country and a representative of a programme/project funded by the EU. Together, the 8 teams will take part in a 2nd training cycle organised in one of the Southern countries. They will then have to produce an audiovisual project highlighting a programme/project or an initiative of the European Union in their country.
Awards and closing ceremony
The 8 teams will compete in a closing ceremony organised in November 2022. There will be four awards:
• Best Team project
• Best engagement on social networks
• Best Team Spirit
• The jury’s favourite
Participants in the 4 Pillars phase will attend the prize-giving ceremony and will be awarded the honorary title of EU goodwill Ambassadors in their country.
