An advocacy campaign is being held in the region of Guelmim Oued Noun, Morocco, in the framework of the common action “10 days for the Mediterranean”, supported by Med Dialogue For Rights and Equality, a regional programme funded by the European Union. The campaign aims at mobilizing the population in order to support environment protection and the fight against climate change, making recommendations to local authorities and reinforcing the capacities of 15 participants in terms of environmental monitoring.

This action will also set up the Regional Observatory for Environment and Sustainable Development to ensure a continuous action.

This campaign will take place simultaneously with 29 local awareness-raising, training and advocacy actions throughout 10 Southern Mediterranean countries from 1 to 30 June, to contribute to promoting sustainable practices and environment protection measures around 4 issues: climate change, agroecology and forests, plastic waste and marine pollution.

“10 days for the Mediterranean” is a joint action developed by Med Dialogue for Rights & Equality through a process of debate and capacity building of young leaders on environmental and ecological challenges that threaten the Mediterranean region.

Med Dialogue for Rights and Equality is an EU-funded Technical Assistance Programme with the overall objective to strengthen the role of CSOs active at the regional scale, in building sustainable development, regional cohesion and resilience, as well as in influencing policy-making in the Southern Neighborhood and the Euro-Mediterranean Space. ‘Mobilising local communities on regional issues of common concerns to influence the agenda of public decision-makers and regional institutions, and involve CSOs in emerging regional agendas and thematic dialogues’ is its core attribute.
