The European Union and the Algerian ministry of National Solidarity, Family and Women’s Affairs launched this week the Support Programme to Sustainable Local Development and Social Activities in the north west of Algeria (Padsel-Noa) in support of four municipalities of the province of Medea (Baata, Ouled-Hellal, Ouled Antar and Kef-Lakhdar).

The programme aims at promoting income-generating activities to improve the living conditions of the most vulnerable populations (unemployed, housewives and people with disabilities). These activities cover the sectors of agriculture, farming, traditional occupations and recycling.

In addition to Medea, Padsel Noa targets 25 municipalities through 6 provinces. With a budget of €43 million, it is co-financed by the EU and Algeria.
