The Project “European Solidarity Response to Covid-19 in Algeria” has announced that an initial batch of 750 oxygen concentrators out of an overall emergency order of 3000 units has been received today for use by public health organisations. This order comes in response to a request made expressly by the Ministry of Health.
A National People’s Army’s transport plane is delivering these concentrators, which will be received at the logistics base in Boufarik. The rest of the order will arrive next week by air.
The project also announced that an order of 1.1 million FFP2/N95 face masks was received on 25 July at Algiers port for use by health professionals. This batch will be added to the 6 million masks already delivered by the Project to the Hospitals’ Central Pharmacy.
The Project “European Solidarity Response to Covid-19 in Algeria” is an integrated initiative financed in full by the European Union for a total of EUR 43 million. The initiative is being organised by UNDP Algeria in partnership with the Ministry of Health.
The aim of the project is to support the national public health system in its fight against the consequences associated with the rapid spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
